The Real Death Sentence 1969 Mustang Fastback Mach 1
This is the actual 1969 Mustang Fastback Mach 1 used in the 2007 James Wan movie, Death Sentence starring Kevin Bacon, John Goodman and Kelly Preston.
The movie was filmed in the early summer of 2007 in Columbia and Charleston South Carolina. The main gangster character, Billy Darly, drove the Mustang throughout the movie until the end, when Kevin Bacon drives off in it in the ending.
Here is the story about acquiring the car.
The studio as a promotion for the movie decided to raffle the car off. It was sent out to San Diego, CA, where it sat front and center at the Comic-Con convention where you could enter to win it, you could also enter on line. The raffle was held for approx 1 week. As it happens a guy from South Carolina won the car, he did not want to pay the taxes on the value of it so he signed it over to his brother who just happens to live in my area.
He owned it for approximately eight months and unfortuantely on his part had to sell it, which was fortunate for me.
The car comes with all the documentation, letters of authenication from the studio, the DVD and two movie posters, it still even has the camera mount, mounted underneath the front of the car for filming.
The car itself is a 1969 Mustang Mach 1 Fastback, it has a 302 cubic inch engine, backed by an automatic C4. It is an F code car which is a 302. The engine has had some modifications done to it, Edelbrock intake, Edelbrock carb, gear drive. Car has twin Magnaflow dual exhaust with a 4:11 posi rear, (obviously set up for burn outs for the movie) The car has the deluxe black interior with factory a/c and working 8 track player some aftermarket guages (tach, oil pressure, temp , vac) have been added.
The paint is a semi flat black with red tattoo designs to mimic the character Billy Darly’s tattoos. The rims are vintage American Racing Daisy style rims. THe car has not been altered at all since the movie and I plan on preserving it exactly as it is. I even got the exact license plate numbers and letters that where used on the car in the movie. I really enjoy driving this car, it sounds mean and looks even meaner, it gets alot of looks whenever drive it.
