During the glory days of the muscle cars, I was a little kid and I didn't know much about cars but my passion for muscle cars started when my parents bought a 68 Holden Monaro in 1972 in Australia.
When I reached the age of driving a car, I was living in Europe and with the price of gas over there, all I could afford was VW bugs and other small classics. 20 years after my parents muscle car was gone, I finally got my own at the age of 28, a 1969 Mustang coupe.

Good looking car. The Muscle cars were also a fav of mine, but I wanted the classic and the new. I have the best of both worlds. I guarantee my Mach1 will whip your a$$.

Right now all I have a is a V6 Firebird apart in the garage and a 4 cyl Sunfire so yes, chances are good you will whip my a$$

A V6 Firebird and a 4 banger Sunfire? Man, you are damn near walking.

That Sunfire is the biggest POS you could have ever bought. You need to do something of the side for a job to bring your corral up to par.

When you have a family, priorities change. The Sunfire is my wife's and it could have been worse if she bought a Toyota or Honda

The Firebird hasn't left the garage in 2 years and my wife wants it out. I told her, the only way it will get out is to make room for a Mustang

but plans are to install a V8 when the body work will be done. Soon my Firebird will whip your a$$

We have three mustangs. The first one my husband bought for me and I did not like it because it was too loud it's a 1991 G.T. plus I hate the color red. I found a 1995 white mustang that I like very much and am trying to jazz it up little by little but don't really know what I want. Then my 16 year old got his regular drivers lisence and We found a 2000 mustang. I liked the body on it and it was going to be mine but it sits too low to the ground. My 16 year old will be driving the GT and more than likely we will be trading in the blue one. Oh yeah thats another thing one mustang is red one is white and one is blue. Now how American is that?!

Welcome to the site Acoburn. Nice collection of Mustangs you have there. Was this choice of colors a coincidence?

Feel free to post your own topic to show your Mustangs. It will be better than having it in page 2 of a 3 year old topic

I have no plan yet but I am looking for a complete junk Trans Am with a 350 to do the swap of all parts needed. Canada's weather is bad for old cars but it seems harder than I thought to find a cheap rusted out Trans Am that can't be restored. If someone has one somewhere in New Brunswick, let me know

GM 350 engines are a dime a dozen, but if you want to make a muscle car out of that bird, you need to look for a 454 big block.

Yes a 454 would be a good choice but the extra weight in the front will penalize the handling of the car and the rigidity of a T-top car is not the best if you have a lot of power. I think I will stick to a 350 engine. It will also be easier and cheaper to find

A friend of mine had a 454 engine in his 78 Camaro and it certainly was a scary engine

Yeah, first you have to find a bird that is not a rust bucket, and that will be hard to find in your snow/salt on the roads country of Canada. Most likeyly you are going to have to keep searching craigslist and EBay to find one that has spent most of its' life in the Southwestern part of the U.S. Then climb on an airplane and fly to see it up close and personal and then either have it shipped back to Canada or drive it yourself. I would personally love to find a Cherry Mustang or Firebird and drive it back to the house. That way, I would know what needs to be fixed or upgraded by the time I got it home.

There was an A code on a lot a few weeks ago for 7K American bucks. Pretty good shape, but it needed a paint job kinda like that Bronco. You have a place to crash here at my hoochie in central Texas.

Rust, snow, salt on roads - all these strange words and phrases. I used my hi-performance Briggs & Stratton roto-tiller today to till up a couple of sections of my vast back yard, the Southwestern 40 I call it (actually it closer to 400 - as in sq ft), right next to the parking area for my parts car, to get ready for tomato season and to prep an area to transplant a couple of avocado trees that have been growing in pots in my living room for the past year. Life is good.
To keep in line with a Mustang forum, I'll add a picture of my back up daily driver 66 hardtop, right in front of the headquarters of the 49ers - a so-called sports team.

I wish I was down South like you guys. I wrecked my rust free daily driver in 5 years because of that damn salt and snow.

I wouldn't drive a brand new car in the snow either. This is probably why there is so many junk cars around here.

Everybody wants a 'West Coast rust-free classic car'. Let me tell you about a dirty little secret about 'West Coast rust-free classic cars' cars. No such animal. We don't use salt on the roads, but there is still an attitude that maintains the concept that rust don't happen out here. Cars are left out in the rain and also the sun. We don't normally have clouds, nevermind rain, from May to October. As a result, cars finishes are baked and get some minor cracks. When the rains come, rust starts. I've seen cars that have never been out of the area and they have major rotted out frame and body problems. It boils down to neglect. I would state that the difference between East and West Cars is great, but ours ain't perfect.

I have seen photos of classic cars in junk yards sitting on the ground for years in places like Arizona or Australia and many of them were rust free. Of course, the closest you get to the coast, the more it will get humid but there is certainly many rust free ones left. I use to own a 30 year old 69 Mustang that spent all it's life in California. That car had no rust at all and the damage on the paint, dashboard and seats proved it didn't spend all that time parked in a garage.

Jim lives in northern Kali, so maybe it's more humid there. My 65 is rust free now, but it had the usual spots like the bottom front of the doors and rear quarter panel that had to be repaired before the new paint job, and mine spent all its' life in west Texas which is in the desert.
