Topic: New Mustang member from Puerto Rico

Hey everyone, my name is Luis and I'm from the sunny and warm island of Puerto Rico, pleasure to meet ya guys. 

Right now I don't own a Mustang, but that's why I'm here! I AM planning on buying one... the only problem is which one... 

I definitely want a standard black Mustang GT but I don't know the pros and cons or differences between the years 2001 - 2004.

I would reaaaaally appreciate the feedback given by owners of the babies of these years so I can make a good buy when I come back from boot camp in March.

My future plans for the Mustang are to have it slightly engine modified, real simple stuff, only to hear it's trademark growl and rumble. To add some exterior mods like new headlights, taillights, tailpipes, new Bullitt rims, sound system, etc.

Any help WILL be appreciated!

Let me be the one to welcome you. I spent some time in San Juan back in the 1960's while in the US Navy. I remember the public square in Old San Juan as a local gathering place to watch TV and the many food vendors. There are other memories too, but this is not the "forum" for that.
As to the years you mention, the choice is yours. I can say that positive changes were made so the later the year model the better off you will be. So that leaves style. That's up to you. The real choice for you will be price, so keep an eye open.

Thanks Jim! I was checking out a webpage where they compared years and the only differences I've seen are mainly the rims, sound system and headlights... I'm not too concerned about the engine whatsoever, I just like to ride in style.

I own an '03 Mach 1 and I couldn't be more satisfied.  It has the Mach1 sound system, leather seats, and a 32 valve 4.6 liter engine with the hole in the hood.   It has the Mach 1 wheels which are the best looking wheel on any Mustang IM0.  See it in my sig pic.  I think the 03 is the best looking Mustang for the years you mentioned.

Welcome and good luck with your search. My dad owns a 02 and has done a lot of mods to his. He is extremely happy with his GT. I hope you get the same sense of pride when you purchase your mustang.
And soaring: You think Texas is cold? Come stay in Virginia, my wolves which have 3 layers of fur want to come inside, and that's amazing!

Leave those wolves outside.  They can handle it.  I was in Alaska for a few years, and the wolves and Huskies made it through 40 below.  If you bring them inside, you will have to do it every winter.  Not a good idea.

Thanks for the info soaring, saw your '03 Stang an it looks beautiful. Hope to have mine as pimped as yours. I prefer one that already has the rims (which is probably the most expensive part I'd have to buy) because the rest can be found easily through eBay and/or ninosport.com (Nice page to buy stang stuff BTW).

Anyhow, I'm a puertorrican and PROUD to serve the United States Armed Forces. I'm part of the Puerto Rico Air National Guard AND I'm going to Ft. Allen in Juana Diaz, PR in two weeks and to Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas in May for Basic Training.

Is great to meet some fellow "Mustangers" who are also Armed Forces comrades like me.

Welcome to the site, and thank you for your service. If you can afford it I would go with a 03/04 Cobra. Next the years of GT‘s you are interested would do just fine with a few bolt-ons, handheld tuner and a custom tune. Good luck and enjoy the site, good info here.
