Topic: my Shelby needs a push

I'm new here, but I'm going to stick my neck out, and ask for favor:

I just found out my Shelby Mustang has been chosen by the New York Times to be one of 30 finalists in the New York Times 2008 Collectible Car of the Year Contest!

it's a public vote thing so Please go to web page above and vote for my Shelby if you think it's deserving. You can vote once a day

I just can't believe out of 100's of cars they picked the GT-350 as a finalist. It's not a show car by any standard, so I'm just floored at being selected, and as the only Mustang to be chosen as a finalist., proud to be representing all Mustang, as well as Shelby, owners

Cryptic, yes. I'm on the HP forum under a different ID (note the one used here) and 'lurk' on a couple of others.

I've been casting a wide net on this contest thing. And have had  pretty good  acceptance on the forums that I don't normally visit. The one exception is the Boss forum where I stated my case poorly, and was justifiably put in my place as a pandering one time poster.

I'm trying to get back in their good graces over there as they seem to be a great bunch guys to get to know. Seeing all their great cars makes me wish I had a Boss also.

got to many 'irons in the fire' to post all over (being retired takes a lot of my time), so I 'lurk', and I'll stick to my 'K'.

I never knew their were so many Ford & Mustang forums & web pages. I usually stick to the VMF, the Hi-Po forum, and a couple of Shelby ones. This contest has definitely got me outside my usual comfort zone.

But on the plus side, I have a gotten a lot of encouragement from across the Ford spectrum, and met some really nice car nuts, who seem to be nearly as crazy as me.

Hey Ray,  I live in Wimberley, so maybe we should get together sometime.  I have a '65 coupe and an 03 Mach1. 
BTW, I tried to become a member and got a message that I could not access the page. 
Whassup with that?

I drive out that way at least once a week, so that would be easy to arrange.

Have any a/c in that coupe? I'm tempted every summer to add a/c to the Shelby.

you had trouble signing up so you could vote? I can't access the new registration page  to see what's up with that since I have (the cookie) already registered. Keep trying I guess, hope it doesn't turn out too frustrating.

Asking for a service or advertising a product in the first post can easily be taken for spam but I am glad you came back to reply to the comments Z. Ray and I hope you will hang around here for a while to talk more the great car you have.
I had no problem registering and your Shelby has my vote. It's by the way, the only interesting classic with the 70 Cuda in my opinion

Thanks to everybody who voted for the Mustang. Voting ended on the 30th of December. I don't know when the winner will be notified. The contest feature article will be in the Feb. 21st issue of the NY Times. If I hear any news before then I will post it here.

My cars never been in a car show, or contest before this.  Since with all the driving I do, It's not the prettiest car.
