Hello from Chilton
« on: November 16, 2010, 06:29:12 AM »
Hi folks, I live in Luton UK, and I have '66 coupe. It was imported into UK in 2003 and I bought it in 2009. I am the 3rd UK owner. Last US owner had it re-painted in Pearl White as part of some restoration work which also included a 302 motor and SSB front disk conversion with power brake. A new blue/blue interior was also fitted. Work done by UK owners added Torque Thrust wheels, Polybush suspension and a Hurst shifter. This year, just before the annual MOT was due, some wiring problems appeared and I had to take the car of the road until the problems where rectified. The turn signals, wash/wipe and horn had stopped working and I found a very poor section of wiring in the under dash loom. This has now been rectified and the car passed inspection last week. Future plans include a new intake and 4 barrel carb, Tri-Y headers with dual exhaust system, electric radiator fan, new alternator with billet mountings and all new plug leads. These mod's will take a while to complete as I have to work out of a small garage with no light or heat.[attachimg=2]

Looks like a solid '66.  They are fun to work on, so take your time and enjoy.  Where in the UK are you from (Luton?), and what do you do for a living?

Hi Soaring, Luton is in Bedfordshire about 40 miles north of London. I am retired now but worked in the automobile trade since 1959, first as technician and then management positions.

Welcome to the group. I agree with Soaring, take your time and don't take shortcuts. They end up taking more time and money to redo. Nice clean looking ride. No better way to enjoy retirement. . . . .  8)

Hi Muncher, thanks for the comment. Parts availability in the UK is not to bad, but I get most of of what I need from the US. What model have you got?

I have a 1967 coupe. Had it shipped over from Cal not long ago. Has dual flowmaster exhausts....sounds cool......4bbl carb and just lowered the front 2 inches. There are some pix on here somewhere.
Guess the exchange rate is good to buy from USA at the mo.
I want to improve the steering response. Not sure how to tackle that just yet.
What is your next job on the Mustang.
