favorite cars
« on: September 21, 2006, 11:08:33 PM »
hi,all i'm 47 and remember all the past cars that i had and wish i still had some of them.the first car i ever drove was a 1965 galaxie 500 which was my cousins with a 352 motor and it was the fast one it would beat everything for miles around till it got wrecked. My first car was a 1962 galaxie 500 with a 352 motor. But the car i had to drive most of the time when i was 16 was 1969 volkswagon convertible beetle and a 1973 ltd which had a 460 in it.I could go any where with the beetle and had alot of good times in it.The ltd i would race at 55mph roll outs and won a few cars with it as there wasn't much that could catch it after long runs.In 1980 i had a 73 olds cutlass with a rocket motor which i turned 12's in the quarter me and my wife were fighting so i sold that. But the thing i hated the most was when i was 14 and my uncle had a 1969 roadrunner which he was going to give me but i was to young and he thought i was 16.So he sold it.But i always wanted a fastback mustang all my life and now i have one.I love it which it is a 1972 mach 1.I get compliments all the time on it.I will try to get pictures on here sometime when i figure how to do it.This wasn't the one i really wanted but i couldn't pass this up for $2500.00 but it needed alot of work and i got mostly everthing fixed on it now and I'm really attached to it now.Let's here some stories from others on here mustanger out.

Very interesting story and great cars you had. Too bad you couldn't get the 1969 Roadrunner but driving that at 16 would have been quite dangerous lol
While we are at car stories here is mine.

The first car I had in 1986 (I was 20) was a 1972 1302 VW Beetle. I bought it on a sunday and my mother drove it home that day with no problem but a couple days later when my military driving licence got validated for civilian use I drove the car to work. After a few minutes of driving it, the direction decided to go on me on a highway bridge and I crashed it against the rail on the opposite lane. That was the end of that car as it was wrecked.
The next week end, I bought another Beetle a 1200 from 1971. The car was in much better shape and I kept it for a few years. I loved that car and became Beetle crazy and 2 years later I ended up owning 3 of them (a 1963 and a 1971 convertible).
After a few years and some financial troubles I had to sell them and buy a VW Golf convertible. It was a more reliable and faster car but not as fun to drive so as soon as my financial situation got better I sold it and purchased a 1967 VW beetle convertible with the California Look modifications. Lowered supsension, 2 tone red & white paint job, white leather interior and 1600cc engine. It attracted a lot of attention and the car was such in nice shape that I had to buy a second car for a daily use. It was a 1963 Peugeot 403, the sedan version of Inspector Columbo's car.
After a while I got tired of slow cars on the highways and they were replaced by a 1977 Matra Bagheera a 3 seat french sport car with fiber body (max speed 180 km/h), a 1968 280 SE Mercedes (max speed 200 km/h) and my favorite car ever a 1969 Mustang coupe (max speed 180 km/h) all top speed tested on the highways in France with no speeding tickets on record.
I now live in Canada since 5 years and own a 1987 V6 Firebird. With so many police ghost cars here I never felt like testing its top speed but when I'll get my future Mustang I might not be able to hold myself to check how fast it will go lol
