Another New Guy Post
« on: June 13, 2008, 10:40:05 AM »
Well I have been lurking here for a couple of weeks. I didn't want to post too much untilI had the car in my possession. I am the proud owner of a new-to-me 2001 Mustang GT.  I got the car lastnight and I love it.  Too bad my wife took it from me to take to work today. I will post pictures as soon as I get her home and get the camera out.

You don't have to own a Mustang to be a member of the site but welcome here. If your wife wants to join us to share her first impressions about the Mustang, she is welcome.  ;D
Don't forget to post your pics  ;)

Now, you are going to have to go get another one for you.   :o

It seems to be in perfect condition for a 7 years old car. The previous owner certainly took good care of it. I like the matching colors of the Yamaha and The Mustang. Now, all you have to do is paint the rims of the car or the bike for a perfect match :)

Blasphemy Thierry!  ;D  Painting the rims on a perfectly good Mustang would be sinful.   :o  All kidding aside, I really like that color of gray.  It just reeks of high class and power.  There ain't no ricer gonna rev up next to you.

Who really cares about a crotch rocket having paint on the wheels?   ;D
But a Mustang just doesn't.  Period.......

The guy I bought it from is a very old friend of mine. I would not have bought it if I hadn't known the car's history.  It had 58000 miles on it and yes it is in awesome condition.  It had a few quirks rightnow but i am going to get those fixed real soon.

Well the only things I can find wrong as of right now are a small oil leak at the oil filter housing/sending unit and The front brakes need to be replaced and the rotors turned.

I find it hard to believe that the front rotors need to be turned and the pads replaced at less than 60K miles.  I go to a town about 14 miles from my house to shop at wally world, etc. and I often get behind idiots who drive with their brakes on.  Every few seconds, they are hitting their brakes.  Seems to me like they need driving lessons.  I never hit the brakes on my 03 unless I am stopping, and absolutely never in a curve on a 60 MPH highway.

Yeah, sounds like you need to overhaul the front brakes.

If you have a oreilys in your area they should turn them for 5 dollars or so, if they are turnable. I hope that shake stops after you change your brakes, but it wouldn't hurt to check that front end and just make sure it is all tight. I don't see anything just coming loose on you, but it never hurt to double check. Keep us posted.....................

The car is too new and not enough mileage on it to have linkage problems causing the shuddering at brake time.  Just have the rotors turned and install new pads.

Sure it is to new but that is why I said you never know anything could go wrong, and something could have gotten loose, right? It is always a possiblity but I am sure it is the brakes, which was stated, lol

I was planning on having the rotors turned and new pads put on.  Should I take it to someone to get it done? I have done the brakes on my past cars with no problems.
