1st Mustang swap in KZ
« on: March 14, 2010, 04:16:22 AM »
Hi everyone!

Just finishing my 302 swap and Holley 4BBL conversion on my SN-95 (ex 3.8L, AODE)...
I guess I'm the only one who did it at my location)
87'Cougar XR-7 5.0 with AOD as a donor...

My mods:
1986 302 block replace
Sealed Power Speed Pro Hypereutectical pistons (CR 9.49:1)
Nascar Performance / Perfect Circle rings
Nascar Performance / Clevitte 77 bearings
Hardened black performance pushrods 6.272"
New timing cover for mech.fuel pump
S.A.Gear HD Double Row Timing kit
Procomp, 6 PSI HV Mechanical Fuel Pump 80GPH
Ford Mustang 4BBL aluminium intake
Holley 750CFM Street/Strip, 3310-4 (3310C), vacuum secondary
Chrome air filter, noname
ROL Gasket set
Fox Headers + Simota fiberglass header wrap
Handmade dual 2x2" exhaust
Procomp PC7000 dizzy
Procomp PC-91 coil
Procomp CDI Ignition box
Procomp 10.2 mm wires
Stock heads/cam/roller lifters (302 code F)
Anchor engine mounts (for SN-95 5.0)
AOD (1987)

Now it runs but need some adjustment for carb and TV Cable.

Some photos/video/sounds are coming soon...

And one photo before swap:

Welcome. Where's "Cazzostan"? I know "Borat" is a comedian but we have so many here in the USof A, both in entertainment and politics, that it's difficut to keep track of (or even care about) them.

Welcome also, but from my understanding cazzostan is not a country or even a proper name of an actual place.

Not completely understood the question)

This is "made for Japan" version of Mustang.
It has some japanese symbols under the hood :o

For example, Russia has own Mustang club
Here in KZ about 20-30 Mustangs including 5th Mustangs

I know that in Russia some owners made the same carb conversion. But no one did it in KZ... exept me

There is only one FOX coupe
About 12 SN-95 and about 15 S-197

And a lot of Mustangs in Russia (hundereds)

One of my former co-workers used to deliver US made satellites to the launch facility at Baikonur. He too, drove a Mustang. The AN-124 that flew from Northern California had a lot of "extra" space and it was roumored that the plane's crew filled up that space with cars bought here and sold there. Don't break anything or throw parts away. I know that replacement items will be tough.

I went to Berlin one time when the wall was still up, and all I saw there were small Russian made cars that were really junk.  I went across the wall at Check Point Charlie into East Berlin.  I forget the name of that Russian car, but it was a piece of shit.

Late russian cars are real piece of shit.
May be you can remember some russian brand names like VAZ, GAZ, ZAZ, Lada, Volga, Moskvich etc.)))

But in 1950-1960 there was many nice cars.
Also in 1950-1980 russians produced some big and small block V8 engines.
But mostly used in trucks and buses.
And never used it in cars... exept KGB special vehicles))

I compared my FSB 302 with small block V8 GAZ.
GAZ engine is better and heads are better too (have some photo of that heads together).
Ford V8 and GAZ V8 are very similar... .like twins))

You can take a look at one of most intresting russian full-size - Chaika.
It has V8 engine 5.5L and 3-speed auto tranny.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaika_(car)

Some owners repaired Chaikas with original Ford or GM parts)))

Hey, thanks for that information.  I never knew that Russians produced any V8 engines for automobiles.  I know they had some damn good tanks back in WWII that challenged the German Tigers though.

The best russian tank was T-34 with V12 diesel engine 8)
