rear disc brakes install
« on: September 09, 2009, 08:07:05 PM »
I am having a problem putting rear disc brakes on my 65 Falcon V8.  I have the std. 8" rear end and the calipers are hitting the springs. What can I do to make this work?

I bought two different set ups online.  One was from a mustang 93 and the other was aftermarket new but neither one would work.  They told me that they worked on a Mustang and should work on a Falcon. I sent both sets back.  I am going to just put disc on the front. Thanks

Yeah Tom, that little Falcon isn't heavy enough to warrant rear disks.  It is my understanding that the Lincoln Versailles rear axle is the same width as the 65 Mustang (57" from spline to spline) and could possibly work, but I really don't see a need for them on my 65.

Thanks for the reply. I am not going to put them on the rear, just front. Thanks again Tom
