Obviously a damn good driver with a ton of HP to let him swing around the competitors.  My question, is why did he get so far behind in the first place?

From a friend I found out that this was an open track event, not a race, and the races are limited to classic cars when they do. If you notice almost all the passing was done on the right of slower cars (European rules?). There are two of the Thunderbolts still racing.

AHA!  So, this Fairlane could have been at least a lap ahead of the competitors.  That sucker is fast, isn't it?
