Topic: 2010 Ford mustang revealed

Here is the latest photos and video released by Ford of the future Mustang 2010 available at dealers sometime in the spring of 2009. There won't be much new other than the body and interior upgrades you can see in the photos below but the V8 engine will see an increase of its power with 315hp instead of 300hp.
I am not sure the upgrades will be enough to compete against the upcoming Camaro and the Challenger but an entirely new Mustang should be available for the 2010 model year.

Lets hope Ford is able to get its act in gear* I'd hate to see the 2010 go under with the company. Although I'm not liking the rear end of the 2010, it looks a little to cut off for my liking.

Ford might be part of the Toyota or other foreign auto manufacturer group in the future but I doubt the Mustang and the Ford company will ever disappear. I just hope North American customers will soon realize that it will cost them much more than what they save when they buy import products.

How would it cost us more? Simply because Toyota or a certain company bought ford out?

When you buy cheap import products you send capitals abroad making foreign companies richer and allowing them to invest and offer cheaper and better products. If you don't buy US made products, US companies won't make enough profits to survive and the only way they will have to be able to compete would be to lower employment cost. If your pay becomes as low as what it is in China, the money you saved in the past would cost you more.
I worked in a Ford plant in France for 13 years. The factory was building automatic transmissions for Mustangs and trucks since 1973 and in a couple years, the factory will be shut down and moved in Eastern Europe where labour is cheaper. If the situation doesn't get better, the same will happen in North America.

OK to get back to the topic, I agree with you Teven, the rear of the Mustang is not great but I love the rest of the car

Well I believe the reason that so many people are purchasing overseas cars is because of the reliability. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my Mustang, but lets be honest, not everyone is an enthusiast(sp). A lot of people want the plane jane, commuter, and if I wanted that I would buy a Toyota, or a Honda. They can easily get 200K+! If I wanted a Car that will break-down, or that I have to worry about constantly after 100K it'd be an american made car. There is no contest to whom makes the longer laster more cost effective car, the foreingers(sp).

With the V8, it looks good, and adding more HP is always a nice thing. Bumping the tourque, and improving the suspension will add a new light to the 2010 Stang, but I'm an ass man, and the rear of that car is just plane ugly.... lol.

Well, if we all start to boycott imports, we will see who will make the longer laster more cost effective cars in the future and I'd rather buy a Mustang with an ugly rear than any other import

You guys are mixing apples with oranges.  A Mustang is not a commuter car, but an American icon cheap and fast sports car.  The Ford  and Chevy 4 cylinder versions would be commuter cars, and the Toyota, Honda and Nissan 4 bangers would be the typical foreign commuter car.  Given the choice between the Ford, Chevy and Toyota, Honda or Nissan, I would choose the foreign made models every time.  I have owned Hondas and Toyotas that I have put well over 300,000 miles on them without a major overhaul.  Whenever the American Automobile Industry gets its' head out of its' ass a start building the same quality automobile as these other companies are building, then maybe the American public confidence will return, but without a major CEO overhaul and some major event to take place like a bankruptsy to occur, the UAW union will continue to suck those companies dry.  I heard today that the Ford CEO made 28 million dollars last year.  That kind of shit needs to go away and a return to reality needs to take place.  I am all for not bailing out these compoanies until a major turn- around takes place.  Throwing good money after bad is not a good investment for the American public.  If the big three want a bailout, then they need to ask Big Oil for the loan.

Japanese always made good economic cars and they were their specialty but they are now building better full size trucks than Ford, GM and Chrysler with the Toyota Tundra and Nissan Titan. Soon, they will offer a cheap V8, rear wheel drive sport car and there will be no more American icon.

There is major changes that need to be done in Detroit but the most important one is to start by buying home made products.

I would certainly prefer to buy American made products if they were superior to foreign made products for a price that was equal, but unforutnately, that is not the case.  The UAW and the CEO's of the American built big three have driven their costs up but have not built the quality product that foreign companies are building.  We are currently in the midst of a gas crunch where the cost of fuel is almost totally dependent on foreign oil.  That aspect needs to change, and we should be seeing more inovative fuel needs for our future automobiles.  Detroit is not addressing those future needs, but yet asks for a bailout of current manufacturing trends that obviously are not working.

That new look will take a lot of growing on me I think. I'm not liking it at all. maybe i'll like it better in real life but so far, not liking it. I agree though, let's buy domestic and support our own economy. In any case I'm really impressed with my 07 GT. Why doen't everyone buy one? It's comfortable. Leather heated seats, power everything, lot's of room. Plenty of power when you need it, and good fuel economy when you don't. There are so many cars with V6's that are the same or worse. Even lot's of 4 bangers with only a little better fuel economy. Quality seems to be good, look awesome. It has a back seat so I can have 2 kids if I want but I only have 1 so that's fine. Trunk is big. I could go on but it does everything i need. It's my daily driver and I've put 50,000 KM on the thing in one year. The only car I'd rather have would be a GT500.

I think Ford and the other two of the big three just got a wakeup call from the American people.  They will either fold or make cost efficient automobiles. But, as far as we Mustang enthusiasts are concerned, who cares how efficient our cars are?  They are meant to be driven, and driven daily.  I still  drive my '65 every day, even during the winter.

 Hey Soaring, I only buy Fords Trucks and Chevy Vans for our company vehicles and I never have any trouble, I just gave away a 95 F-250 6 cyl with 600,000 miles on it and it ran like it was new, I am currently driving a 2005 F-250 v-8 that just turned 250k again runs like new, our diesels never stop running they last forever. No foreign manufacturers can match there quality, where have you been the last twenty years? I've owned a lot of Fords, Pontiac's and Jeeps all made right here in the States and they didn't have any problems either. Toyota is no different than Ford, there in this for profit, as soon as there contract was up in Georgetown Ky they stopped buying american material and put a lot of people out of work. They don't make better cars or trucks and they don't care about us, they have private jets and they make millions of dollars just like Ford and Chevy CEO's. I had to pay business  taxes while Toyota went tax free for ten years. I knew a lot of people that worked at Toyota but I can't seem to remember any of them driving a Toyota truck, I do remember quite a few nice Ford F350's and 250's though. Drive buy your local Toyota dealer and look at all the cars lined up at the service center, Toyota mechanics stay pretty busy.

I have a 1965 Mustang, a 1981 F-150 and an '03 Mustang.  You don't have to convince me that Ford makes a quality vehicle.  And has been for many decades with the exception of the mid 80's through the early 90's when they made crap.  That was the time that Honda, Toyota and Nissan took over the affordable car market.  They made reliable and efficient vehicles whereas Chevies, Fords and Chrysler products were crap.  That tainted reputation still remains, even though the big three make decent vehicles today.

I agree with you Soaring, the US cars were crap in the 80's and early 90's but things have changed since then. Chrysler announced they will close their plants in Canada and in the States for a couple months. This will have a huge impact in our economy.
On our local news, a multi brand car dealer said that most cars sold where Volkswagens and Hyundais. They might be reliable economic cars but if by buying one of them you think you save money, you're wrong. The money you spend is going abroad and you won't get anything in return.
European nations understood this many years ago and always had a quota of the number of cars allowed to be imported in their country.
If your government don't do anything about it and you want to save money and improve the economy of you country buy home made cars and other products.
By the way, when I say you, I am not talking to any member here, I am talking to our North American readers who buy import vehicles
I am also an imported guy in Canada and my interest is not in the country where I use to live, it's where I am living at at the moment and it gets me mad when I see my friends (even my wife) buying products made abroad.

I wasn't a big fan of them when they first revealed those shots, buts its slowly growing on me the more I see them.
