trans problems?
« on: September 19, 2009, 08:21:30 PM »
I just got a 89 LX vert today. Automatic. I have only had manuels so I'm not sure if its working right. It shifts pretty hard and at 65mph it is at 2500 rpms. To me that seems high. At 65 I stomp on it and it don't downshift. What could be the problem?

An adjustment to the linkage needs to take place for the kickdown.  But, it sounds as if the tranny needs an overhaul.

I don't much about transmissions, how do you adjust the linkage for kick down?

Have you adjusted the TV cable properly? If not you'll burn up that transmission in a few miles. Ill see if i can find you a link to help you adjust it, if not just take it to a local transmission shop and have the adjust it.
