Paint Suggestions
« on: February 16, 2010, 08:14:54 PM »
I have a 95 GT with the Stalker kit and hood. Right now it is a bright red with the red interior. I was thinking a two tone scheme with a stripe to separate the colors. I know the interior color limits my options, but I will consider any suggestions. If anyone has any ideas or pics to help, please comment.

My car has the same kit as this one except mine is a coupe. (I can't afford anything like that)  :)

If you are asking for opinions, I would leave it like it is.  But, the only color I can think of that goes with red is white or possibly black.  My Mach is red with the black racing stripe and I think it looks rad.

Yeah, I was thinking a really dark gray metallic or black pearl. I'm looking for a red that isn't as bright as what I have now too, something that has a deeper tint to it. The only thing that I can't do to it is a candy paint.

I really like the "Torch Red" that is on my 03 Mach.  It is still red, but not leaning toward purple.  It's all a matter of preference though, isn't it?  I like the brigher colors on Mustangs, and my torch red is just perfect for me.

Do you have a pic of your car with the mods and wheels?  I can help with some photo editing ideas.
With the red/red combo you have, you might consider some kind of "ghosting" effects with a darker or lighter red.  Also, since your tires are black and some window trim is also black, then a black graphic would be suitable as well.

Some people will change the colors of the interior panels, like armrests, air conditioning trim, radio bezels and the easy mod of the steering wheel cover to add a second useable color on the outside.  These are VERY easy to remove, repaint, and reinstall that most anyone can do.  For instance, if you like red and yellow, you could change the color of those interior trim pieces to yellow and add some yellow graphics to the outside of the car. :)

That's the same color of my Mach I think.  I love that color, and wouldn't change it or alter it.  If it also has a red interior, gray goes well with that red exterior.   Shoot us some pics of the interior, and focus this time.   ;D

Yeah, you need to push that outside and take some decent workable pictures without all the glare. :)

Personally I would keep it the way it is.

But I have seen pretty good two tone paint jobs, I would check out what Chip Foose has done.  I was watching Overhaulin today and he did a two tone Cuda with a stripe to separate the colors.  Usually I'm not for these type of colors, but it looked pretty sweet.  Definitely check out Chip Fooses work, it will give you some good ideas on what to do.

I would've done that but I live where we have 3ft of snow outside and moving my car is impossible. I had to use my cell for the pics and that is probably why they turned out so bad. I'll put up an interior pic for you to see then.

I was thinking a two tone scheme with a stripe to separate the colors.
Are you thinking along the lines of a "Foose" style 2-tone with pinstripe separation?  Like black top half, with red lower and say a silver pinstripe?  Like that?  Or???

Yeah that's just what I was thinking. I'm just trying to find some colors that I could use that aren't seen everyday. My paint guy had the idea of black over red with a silver stripe. I'm just not to high on going basic red and black though.

Get a decent pic.  That will help a lot to edit showing you various combos.  You might be thinking of some combos you would like, with possibly the red on the bottom.  For instance, if you don't want black, how about Gold on top over red?  I'm not fond of silver or white over red (unless you're a Ohio State fan!).  Or a hot fire orange over red?  That might look cool.  Purple/red - gay.  Yellow/red - too gaudy.  If not black, how does metallic charcoal over red w/silver accents sound?
Just some thoughts.

I'm thing of something a lot like this but with more of a charcoal on top. I think a silver stripe of some kind would really look good too. Since the weather isn't cooperating with me at all, I can't get a good pic of mine. But I think something like this would be really sharp. I don't like the Silver/Red for the OSU thing. I hate Ohio State. I plan on going to PSU next year so it wouldn't work.

I don't like the black very much. I think a dark charcoal would make it look 1000x better. And it really needs something to separate the two colors.

Ok, how about these concepts.  I think I like the dark metallic charcoal best (a step up above black), but I did some medium dark silver and also an orange just for some other options.
Oh, I also think that the front "V" around grill and between headlights should be painted too.  I didn't like the sample photo with it red between there.
Have fun!  :D

Thanks a lot for those pics. I really like the second one. I think that's the scheme I'm going to go with. I'm just going to go with a different shade of red. Here are the interior pictures. Once again, cell phone quality but it gets the job done.[attachimg=1][attachimg=2]

 :o I dont like either

Thats a lot of red too.

Have you thought about going all black on the interior and changing the outside color of the car? I would really go with a orange (I wanted to go orange on mine but went Aquamarine instead) Do something that will stand out from all the other mustangs.
