Topic: Help with paint codes & suppliers

Hi all...
im new to this forum but my brothers and I have two 67 Mustang Shelby projects on the go.. (1 x GT350 paxton, 1 x GT500 428 2x4bbl).. the Big block car is near ready for painting stage and we are unable to located the specific black required for the interior & engine bay.. I know its a semi-gloss finish for the interior and i think a satin finish for the engine bay but my spraypainter uses Standox Paint (same supplier for Mercedes & BMW) and it doesnt comeup on their listing.. is Dupont or PPG have it on there listings and if so would anyone know there code.

Welcome from Northern California. That's one hell of a pair of cars.
Let's do the easy paint first. Ford was not too careful for engine compartment paint so I'll give you the general info for there first. The paint was a semi-gloss black and the gloss varied from 20 to 30 percent if that makes sense.
The interior was called "Charcoal Black Irridescent" and had a R/M number of 4464. It was used for 67 on interiors. I'll see if I can find a Ditzler (sp?) number and get back to you. Be advised that Ford painted the interior first, masked it off then painted the exterior. That's the best I can do for now.

This paint has a bit of metallic "tint" to it.

thanks Jim... thanks a lot.... i think my painter should be able to work off Dupont in the worse case scenario if he cant get it off Ditzler... i heard that when applying the interior its to be done via thin coats so that the fake grain on the doors etc. is filled in...

   Jim has already given you the codes, and we like to have fun on here.  Looks like you have the body in good shape.  Good job.   My old lady tore up the rear quarter panel on my Mach1, so I put it in the local body shop and had it fixed.  I now have my Mach back.
