Topic: engine noise on gt

all... i had my dad look at an 06 gt today because he lives close to the dealer. He said he started the motor and listened to it. It had a valve tapping noise. My Dad has been in the auto repair business for about 60 years, so i trust he knows what a valve tap sounds like. My question is is this a normal thing for the 4.6? The car has 27,000 miles on it. The big unknown is how it was treated with-in those 27,000 miles. Has anyone had any similar issues? Thanks, Jeff

All I can tell you is that my 4.6 32 valve V8  with over 30K miles on it is smooth as silk and absolutely no tappet noises.  I would suspicion that engine has been rode hard and put away wet with so few miles on it.  So if it was my decision, I would steer clear.  Run, don't walk.

  Thanks for the reply! I suspect some weekend hot rodder had it and hammered it. My dad told me the dealer told him the guy traded it for a pickup. He also said the "guy" aka "kid" traded it. A young kid with a gt?
