I've got a 96 Cobra and I'm looking to get some quick horsepower.  I've been getting different answers to this question.   Or maybe a chip is better?  Also I want to switch out the rear gears.  My tranny is a t-45 with 5th gear of course, I would idealy like to put 4:11s but I'm afraid that'll kill my highway ride.  By the time I change gears I'll have 245/45/18 tires.  While we're at it what about 3:73's? And is it too much wear and tear on my car to make this type of mod?

4/11's is awsome but like you said you will loose top end. my buddy did it to his and he was at 55 mph and the rpms were about 4500.

I would tru 355 gears. A chip is good , you can adjust alot of things and yes more power you do to it the more wear and there there is. It depends what and how much you wanna do. turbos are nice and so are super chargers. heck I was tghinking about a procharger kit. 4k installed and dyno tuned with gains of 135 hp to the rear tires.

what all have you done to your cobra? a good cold air induction kit will give you 20 hp and they ussally run abour 200 bucks. trust me there is a lot you can do it ll depends on the $$$ and how bad you wanna make it fast.

Yeah I am sorry to say but race is right, lol. If you only plan on using it for the strip then the 4:11 would be nice, but on a daily driver nah my bestfriend has blow a motor daily driving that thing. The 96 should have come out with a good gear low threes I believe.

The Hpyertech chip is a good way to get some cheap and easy horsepower, cold sir intake is also a good way to go, and there is a fuel chip that gives you about 20 horse and saves you 2 MPG so it pays for its self.STANG OUT
