Funny you mention Allis-Chalmers, did you know GM actually supplied Corvette  4 bolt main motors for  AC Gleaner  old gas combines.... hehehe

My father's first name was Chalmer.  Good old Irish name.  Growing up on the farm, we mostly drove John Deere and Farmall tractors.  I particurlally liked the John Deere's.  The one lungers were my favorites. 
Poppin'  Johnines we called them.
