Can there be another way, I have been trying off and on to install the igniton tumblers back in to the switch itself. Needless to say I have not got it right yet, just thought maybe some one could give me a pointer of two.

You could take it to a locksmith
Seriously, I tried to rekey a lock like that once and screwed up a perfectly good glovebox lock (you can't get them anymore). So now I take all of my auto keying needs to my local locksmith.
