351C Beef Up cheap and easy????????
« on: July 02, 2007, 07:57:53 PM »
Hey guys was wondering if anyone has any tricks to help get some horses out of a factory 351C 2V. I heard that the 2V heads are better than four aleast in the lower rpm. I would like to see if I could get some help. I want to try to squeeze some more out of her, it only came out with 176 horses or donkeys pushing it and I cannot stand that but anyone on here knows where I stand on this baby and want to help her anyway I can. I plan on getting a new cam for her but want to get everything else going first.

IT ALL DEPENDS ON HOW MUCH YOU WANT TO SPEND... I'D WOULD CHECK YOUR COMPRESSION FIRST, THAT WILL TELL YOU WERE YOUR MOTOR STANDS RIGHT NOW. ITS ALL ABOUT THE PACKAGE MY FRIEND. WHAT DO YOU HAVE AND HOW CAN YOU MAKE IT MORE EFFICIENT.
I WOULD TRY GOOD GAS FORM THE RACE SHOP NEAR BY, REG TUNE UP, IGNITION CAN BE HUGH AND CARB IT ALSO A BIG DEAL. GET THE RIGHT SIZE FOR THE COMPRESSION AND TUNE IT TO PERSSION. THERES NO SOLVE ALL ADD ON OTHER THAN A TURBO AND THATS HIGH DOLLAR.

hey I am trying to get it set up but right now I am at the point to try little things that wouldn't show that it is any different than factory.  I am going to pull the motor and rebuild  it and want to add a cam, and maybe  bore it thirty over, but still don't want to make it look flashy but with a little more getty up.

I would love to get rid of that dam FMX trans because I have no knowledge of it and heard that they are very crappy but if I can rebuild it (which it doesn't need) so as to clean it up than I am all about it. The rear in is a 2:75:1 which I will either put a 355 or 373 gear in it I have both and think that the 355 would go great since as anyone on here knows that it will not be used to race but to drive to car shows.

I have heard that my 2V heads are better than the four  as far as off the line. I would like to put some headers on it with a double exhaust rather than the single that I am driving right now.  I have been told though that the org. exhaust is equal to headers but I find that hard to believe, but you never know. I know nothing about this 351C and need the old timers that have been messing around with it to shed some light. STANG OUT

Ok here is what I previous had in my car, which worked well.
I was pulling 117mph in the quarter mile. NO TRACKTION 1ST THROUGH 2ND.

-4 speed top loader
-411 POSI rear gear ratio
-351c/30over bore with flat top pistons.
-Standard 4ma crank and rods
-4-v closed chamber heads with full roller rockers, they sell guide plate adapter kitS   you can bolt on instead of milling the pedestals down.
-Stock ford electronic distributor with MSD 4AL and excel supper coil
-Holly 800 dbl pumper
-Hooker supper comp headers
-2.5 inch dual exhaust with H-pipe
-Dual plane intake and functioning ram air set up
-A special grind camshaft from Schneider racing cams out of San Diego. The cam is a split duration cam. 284 intake and 294 exhaust with a standard .519 lift, 69 degree overlap.
-Recommended open spring pressure at 280-300.
I pulled that info right off the cam card.

The motor pulled up to 6500 all day and could spin up to 7
