Topic: 1973 mexican mach 1

I am thinking off starting a project.  The car is a 73 mach 1 that was made in mexico. it has the 351 4v, c4 trans and a 220 mph speedo.  Is this car worth the trouble, I can find very little about the mexico mustangs.

Would it be a Shelby de Mexico Mustang? They made fake fastbacks from coupes. If so this could be a rare and valuable Mustang.

I have also found a regular 67 Mustang made in Mexico on Ebay so I guess, Mexicans did build some of them.

Other than that, I could not find more information.
Depending of it's condition a Mustang from the USA or Mexico is always worth the trouble but unless it's a Shelby de Mexico Mustang I don't think it would be worth more than a regular one.

The only information I can impart about the Mexico Mustangs back in the 60's is that the Mexicans made one hellava block by adding more nickel to the content of the metal, making the block a lot stronger and making it available to be bored to 0.60 over.  I don't know that they actually had a factory to build Ford Mustangs from ground up.  I think that is a myth.   I have heard that they are building the old Volkswagen bugs though, but I have never seen one built in Mexico that I know of.

 Yes I don't think they were built in Mexico but they could have been assembled there in local plants.

is the car a coupe? or a fastback because all cars sold in mexico had to be made there thats the reason for the shelby coupes, im not completely certain this was still the same procedure for the 71-73 though, more than like i would think its a Canadian car?

Yes, Mustangs were built in Mexico. The data plates are in Mexican. The VIN's are all different. Kevin Marti confirms. Mustangs were also made in the Netherlands alongside tractors on the assembly line. They also made Shelby's in 1971-72 called Shelby Europa. There is so much oddball stuff out there regarding Mustang history.

I wouldn't be afraid of buying a Mustang "hecho en Mexico".
