Looking for some help. I'm looking at 1967 Mustang fastback with a k code in VIN on fender. Car has been sitting a couple years, but runs. GT package with correct gauges, brakes and fog lamps.

How do I tell it if is original motor? Do I have to take off valve covers? Any help is appreciated.

That's one hell of a first post. Bear with me, the system kicked me off a minute ago so I'll do this in steps. The VIN is located on the lower right of the block above the oil pan and to the rear of the battery ground point.

Is it true that the 65-66 K motor does not have VIN on the block?

All HP blocks have a casting number of C5AE-6015-E. The casting number is on the right rear of the block hidden above the starter. See pic. The other pic is the difference between HP and standard exhaust manifolds.
