01 mustang egr delete
« on: November 05, 2010, 09:59:07 AM »
Im running a lake fox p-51 intake on my 01 mustang and I have some vacuum issues. The egr is pulling to much vacuum and causing it to idle funny and smoke. I was wanting to know if I could delete the egr and what all I would lose and have to do in order for my car to run right again. I also dont care about a CEL, and I ill be driving WOT most of the time. any help????

The EGR valve helps your car more efficiently and completely burn fuel by recirculating a portion of your exhaust and running it through the combustion process again. This results in a cooler, more complete burn of the fuel which decreases you car's noxious emissions by prohibiting the formation of some harmful gases.  Rough idle and poor acceleration can be caused by a faulty EGR valve.  If it was mine, I'd replace the EGR valve with a new one.  That engine was not designed to run without one.
