Power window relays
« on: August 21, 2008, 09:32:11 AM »
Were are the power window relays located on a 99 GT Conv.  The passenger side front and the drfivers side rear quit working at the same time.

Look in your fuse box.  You will see square relays, and the power windows relays are silver.  Take lots of money with you to get a new one.  They are something like 48 bux each.

Thanks, I wasn't sure since there is only one relay in the fuse box (by the way it's not exactly square) and there are much more under the hood. This is my wifes' car so, no manual. (I drive a 65.)  Anyway that's appearently not my problem as there is only one relay.  Guess it's Dealer time.   Man I hate that  Thanks anyway

Well, the relay is going to be under the hood, and mine is in the fuse box on my 03.  The difference is that mine are not silver.

No, you were right on the 99 it is under the dash but there is only one.  It is silver, but it is rectangular ( I pulled it and no windows worked ) Like I said since there is only one, that is obiously not my problem as two windows work two don't.

Under the dash and not under the hood huh?  Well, we can assume it is not both motors that went out at the same exact time, so there has to be a common wire that is loose.  I suggest you get a wiring diagram and multi-meter and trace down the break in the wiring that is causing two windows not to operate.  I absolutely hate wiring and electronics on cars.  It's like they have a mind of their own.

Well, Glen got the part about a wiring diagram correct. That's step one - and there is no other step one.
