i let my g/f borrow my 1988 gt with 5.0 and 5 speed, while she had it the clutch cable broke and i had to go pick it up and trailer it home. i have heard of an aftermarket typer of cable and adjuster for these cars but i dont no much about it. also my tail shaft seems to have some up and down movement now and is leaking fluid i changed the seal but i blew again. so i need to no how hard it is to change that bearing or bushing which ever it is, i am a mechanic  and have been inside trannys before but i have no experiance with a t5 so any help on either of these problems would be great

It's called a clutch cable quadrant.  I put one in my nephew's 02 GT a few months back.  It's not really hard to do, but as usual the written directions that came with it were generally worthless.  Here is a fairly good explanation with pictures.  There are 2 pages.  Good luck with it.
