Water wetter.
« on: February 09, 2011, 11:06:40 PM »
Hi All.
I have a problem i hope you can help me with.
I have a 67 Mustang auto, no a/c. I have fitted a 3 core radiator and 6 blade fan. The fan is about 2.5 inches from the rad also no shroud fitted. The thing is when the weather is hot, it has been really hot lately, the temp rises to 220 approx. When the weather is cooler it will sit at 180 but will rise to 200 around town. I have been told that a shroud and moving the fan closer to rad will solve the problem. However i thought that if i am cruising around 60mph enough air should be getting to the rad even without the shroud.
I thought i would try water wetter first.....my cheapest option.
What do you think...........Cheers

Thermostat is new 180 deg. I think the shroud may be the answer. I just thought that if i am travelling around 60mph. There is enough air flow to keep it cool.

At speed a shroud is not needed as much but would chance overheating while in the city or traffic.  I personally would buy either a shroud or an electric fan.

I would double check thermostat to be sure, I had a 93 T-bird with 5.0 and changed thermostat i went through 6 new ones before i got a good one. if not cooling at cruising speed then i would add shroud and again check thermostat
