Topic: Under dash AC hose is torn

Hello, I have a factory AC unit hanging under my dash.  66 Coupe...

I have just finished painting the metal dash and while putting the dash back together, I noticed that there is a hose that goes from the top of the ac unit to the firewall.  I noticed that the material around the hose (or whatever is in there) has torn.
Do I need to fix this?  If so, any suggestions?  Duct tape maybe?

Looks like a duct for the defroster.  I would just duct tape it.
