Stock tach with electronic ignition
« on: September 27, 2009, 11:30:12 AM »
I bought a '73 Mach 1 with a Mallory electronic ignition setup (box/dist/coil) already installed.  The stock tach does not work, it only bounces a bit around the 0 - 200rpm range.

From other posts I have gleaned that I probably need a Mallory tach adapter ( http://www.jegs.com/p/Mallory/Mallory-Tach-and-Tach-Fuel-Adapters/753957/10002/-1 ).

One post mentioned that the tach may already be destroyed due to someone hooking it up without this adapter.  There car is 90% stock and I am trying to keep it that way so I'd like to salvage this tach if possible.

Can anyone offer any advice on this subject?

Thanks in advance!

I have MSD with the stock tach. Used an MSD adaptor its really not a big deal. You'll have to get the mallory adaptor..

oh yeah it'll bounce if it grounds once in a while. I doubt anythings wrong (they are really simple mechanisms) just get the adapter and hook it up..
