Side scoops
« on: November 30, 2008, 06:24:19 PM »
I've got a 1965 Fastback. Has anybody put on the side scoops with the studs on them, I have a pair [attach=1], Thier painted and ready to put on. I'm just wondering if they stay put or do they move anround on the car When you drive?

Yes, a long time ago and not on any of my cars. Paint the scoop if it is not to be molded in. Put the painted scoop up to where you think it will go to see where to apply masking tape to reduce scratches and to give a point to mark where to drill.  If the scoop is to be molded in then painted, just mark and drill. Remove the rear interior seats and lower fiber glass panels. Grit your teeth and drill the holes. Remove tape. Install scoops. If you want functional scoops, as in ducting cooler air to rear brakes, be prepared to do a lot of cutting and hacking.

If you are talking about the original chrome 3 fingers, then I would not bother.  It appears that whoever refurbished your 65 took them off, and I think yours looks just fine.  If you are talking about the Shelby scoops designed to cool the rear brakes, then I wouldn't do that either unless you are into racing.  Your car looks slick.  I wouldn't change a thing.  If you are wondering where your very large picture went, I took it off.  Sue me.   ;D
