Rear End

(1/2) > >>

Jeff1967:
My 67' has an 8" rear end and it has started leaking lube where the drive shaft enters the rear end. I assume there is a seal there, is it possible to change without a lot of effort? or should I have a shop look into it? I have the ability to do some work if it does not involve rocket science.

Advise would be appreciated .

Thanks

Jeff

66GTKFB:
Because you need special tools, and to set the lash, take it to a shop. Otherwise you get a nasty "whine".

Jeff1967:
I will do that, thanks for the advise.

Soaring:
And, when the shop is through replacing the seal, have them fill the rear with synthetic 75-W-90 gear lube.

Jeff1967:
Glen,

Thank you for the advise I will do that.

Jeff
