Topic: power brakes conversion help needed

hello I have a 4 speed manual tranny v8 1966 mustang conv and have no power brakes and I want to convert it wat do I need do you now off any good suppliers

Hey Jean....welcome to the site.  Mustang Monthly did a write-up on the conversion, and they even give you a place to buy the parts.  Looks like a pretty easy conversion since you already have front disks.   I believe what you are looking for starts on page 2.  Here ya' go....

I just did a front disc brake conversion on my 66. It came with a dual bowl master and a vacuum booster. I installed it and the brakes are good. You can find a vacuum booster at NPD (National Parts Depot). I had to take my hood off to get to the old master and remove it as well as install the new booster and master. I little tight but it fairly easy.

I did a single jelly jar conversion to a dual master cylinder.  I had to do some brake line replacement anyway, so added the 1967 dual MC.  I don't need a power booster on my light 65 though.  I still have drum and shoe brakes on the front.  She stops just fine.  You  just have to anticipate, and drive.  No talking on the cell phone or smoking a joint.

Just do a google search.  There are a few related articles, but not a Mustang Monthly "how to" article that I could find other than the one I have already given you.  It looks like a lot of trouble to me.  A 65 and 66 Mustang are not heavy enough to require power brakes IMO.  Maybe you should visit the gym more often.

If you are just wanting to upgrade to a power booster for your brakes NPD National Parts Depot will probably have the vacuum booster. You may have to buy a new master cylinder to go with the booster but they have them too.
