MustangChris:
hi guys,
need help i tride to fit a curved monte carlo bar on my 67 ,but could not push the bar down enough to line up with the holes, the bar seems to be about half an inch to long.i tride bending the end brackets, but made no diffrence, the monte carlo bar is for a 67/68 model, any ideas? cheers    mustangchris. >:(

You got a common problem there. Jack up the front of the car on both sides and take some weight off the front end. This will cause the fender aprons to sag. The bar should slide in a bit easier. I do not recomend drilling the four additional holes if you intend to show the car. If you got a daily drive, drill away. Also use 5/16-18 bolts without any washers at the head as they may hit the hood. Do you have or are you considering an export brace?
Jim

I didn't have a problem putting in my export brace and montecarlo bar.  But yes, there have been a ton of reports of guys who have had that prroblem.  Just jack up the front and let her sag for a few days, then try it again.

mine dropped right in too, but depending on the cars life etc will make the difference in having fitment problems, it could have been in a minor fender bender 40yrs ago you never know
