hi first of all, i'm new to the sight and have always wanted to own a classic mustang...dream finally came true, i'm a new owner of a 65 coupe 289,the steering is manual...what would be the best thing to do,to the steering with out converting to a powersteering...what can i do to the manual steering to make it steer better???thank you for any advice....

welcome to the site. personally I would just drive and enjoy your stang. Less stuff to work on. I remember my first truck ,it was a 59 ford with no power steering,no power brakes and no power clutch, but I would not change a thing about it. you can change over but its a chore, unless you have the $$$ and friends to help out, you can do it.

To make it better you could see if it is lubed in all the joints, get a bigger sterring wheel.

Just remember you cant turn while you sit unless you have huge fore arms,I found its easier to start to turn wheel you moving.

keep your tires properly inflated, and if you feel ambitious do the shelby upper control arm mods. if you research you will find info. i did every bolt on handling upgrade possible to my 66 c coded coupe. i was amazed by how much better my stang  :-D feels. i know the meaning of the word "classic" now
