Jelly Jar to two bowl MC Question.
« on: February 06, 2008, 04:13:05 PM »
My next project is to switch out the single bowl Master Cylinder and put in a two bowl.  The problem as I see it, is that there is only one 3 /16" line coming out of the jelly jar, and that line is split into three lines.....2 to the rear, and 1 to the front brakes.  I am not putting on disks on the front, so I don't need a proportioning valve.  Now, how do I come out of the two bowl that has two 5 /16" lines coming out of it, and be able to hook up to the three male ends of the three 3 /16" lines?  I found this kit at Ebay, but it doesn't address going from 5/16" tubing to 3/16", nor does it address going from 2 outlets on the MC to 3 inlets at the distribution box.  http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1964-1965-1966-MUSTANG-FORD-DUAL-BOWL-MASTER-KIT-DSC_W0QQitemZ140204716080QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item140204716080

CJ Pony parts sells the same kit and they have an active forum for technical questions. You will probably get the solution from them if you don't say you bought the parts on Ebay  :D
Ask CJ Pony Parts

I just found an article explaining how to do the conversion on their site.

Please note: Due to manufacturing variations on the 64-66 cars and the new master cylinder, adapter fittings may be needed for the lines and fittings. These adapters would be available at major auto parts stores such as NAPA.

Thanks Thierry.  That's kinda what I figured about blocking off one of the rear lines.   With this kit and 4 adapters from NAPA I can do it.  Thanks for the find.  You da' man....

I ordered the kit, so will have to make a "how to" article once I get 'er dun and it works.  I'll do a write-up and post it in the FAQ section on top for classics.
