I have a 1973 Mustang with a 351C and a C6 with an Offy intake and Edelbrock 650 carb.  The vehicle also has 4V heads, but other than that, it is pretty much stock.

I purchased a Mallory Hyfire IVc unit that came with a Unilighter distributor (Mallory).  Both of these items came off a 351C.  There is a lot of information on how to install the units, but not a lot on what the IVc unit does.  I tried to contact Mallory but the kid on the phone was worthless.  I tried to write emails to them, but I have been waiting for almost 3 weeks for a response.  Mallory is not on my list of very responsive companies.

Regardless, does anyone know where I can find some information on these units.  Specifically, I would like to know exactly what the IVc unit does.  Secondly, the Unilighter distributor does not have a vaccume advance module.  I'm assumming that it uses mechanical advances and does not need the vaccume any longer.

I currently have a Petronix kit in an OEM distributor with a Petronix coil.  This works good so I am in no hurry to upgrade the system until I find out what the Mallory system does for me.  Thanks

Hi Zreg, where and why did you buy this part ? Cannot you ask to your salesman ? When  I purchase a technical part, I ask before to obtain the informations.
I don't like to recommend other sites but try to post your question here:

I wanted the distributor, which came off an engine just like mine.  The IVc is actually an expensive piece and I picked it up and the distributor at a very good price.  They are both used.  The person who used them just knew that they were both used in unison, but they don't have to be.  I just wanted more information so I could decide whether or not I wanted to keep the IVc.  I did not expect that Mallory would be so non-responsive, which is why I asked the questions.  Thanks
