ignition switch and key cylinder for a 65 stang

i tryed putting it in the car it is a dash mount the key cylinder dosent lock in  it looks like its hitting the little triangle

I'm not sure if its the same as it is on mine but isnt there a release pin somewhere on the cylinder you have to press to release the old one and let the new one in? Or does a 65 not have that?

there is i tryed it and it want go in both parts are new

Did you take the old one out properly?  You need to use a paperclip end to push into the little hole and turn your key to the ACC position.  The whole thing should come out so you can replace it with the new one.

the car had no keys and the hole switch and key cylinder are new i tryed that way and it still dosent go in

If you have lost the keys, then the old one has to be taken out with a drill.   You need to replace the entire switch.  Sorry.....

i took the hole old one out the hole thing is new and is there a backing plate to keep the switch tight ?
