I begin 2011 with this question, concerning a "FE block" identification numbers.
Do you know the following ID code # C8AZ-A.

Do you know the following ID code # C8AZ-A.

What you have is an incomplete Ford service part number. The question back to you is where did you find this part number. It breaks down as follows: "C"=1960's; "8"=1968 specifically; "A"=full size Ford product line initial design; "Z"=Ford service part control (procurement, inventory, shipping, etc); "-A"=first item (the second would be a "-B"). The part of the number that is missing is between "Z" and the "A". That part number format is used as a shorthand type notation.

In fact, I seen  a car for sale but, I don't found its ID numbers block in my repair manual. Not found also in the listing send by thundertc64  , who is very interesting !
Actually 66GTKFB is right, a number is missing for to be correctly identify .

I just noticed your location, and a shutter went up my spine (re 6Jun44).

C8AZ-G Says it is a 427 service block , year is shown as 72 so says the Ford Performance Parts Identifier pg45
basic casting number is 6015  that's all i could find on it,did a couple of searches for the number and they also stated a 72 but i guess it might help as a starting point.Only thing that gets me is the C8 should be 1968.

I thought the part number in question was "C8AZ-A".

looks like i made a mistake on that one     look for the casting number and can narrow down a little better if it's a 6010 number then you are looking at a 390
