Hey Guys
« on: March 07, 2011, 09:50:16 PM »
New to the site and wanted to say hello.

I just bought a 1966 Coupe and will start the restoration process within the next couple of weeks. The car is nearly a basket case, but I got a good deal on it. It has a solid lifter 289 in it and a top loader 4 speed. The car was originally a six banger, but someone started converting to a V-8 car some time ago. Has a 8" third member as well. I've started the restoration list on the car and boy it needs a ton of work, but we've all been down this road.

I've spent the last couple of hours scanning this site and I have to say that it's one of the best.

Was wondering if any six cylinder cars were 5-lugs from the factory. I always thought they all were 4-lugs......

BlackShadow is right on the 6's having 4 lugs. Even changing to a mild 8 the 4 lug will work fine. If you do your own welding you'll save big $$$ and know the job was done right. . . .  8)

Hey Frankinstang,
From one newbie to another Welcome!
My fastback was sooooo rusty, I know what your going through. I learned how to weld on this car,  :o Good thing my brother-in-law did the majority of the welding, but I really got into welding,  loved it! Good luck and Happy welding.  If you get a chance send a pic a two.
