This is what you end up with when you have a non certified mechanic build or work on your motor. This is the result of not having your rockers not properly adjusted (adjusted to tight) thus causing the internal damage to the lifters and Cam.

I inherited this upon buying my Mustang and six months down the road it surprised me by having the timing chain skip on me.
As you can see the lifters have a bowl shape on the end and the forth lobe looks like a grinder was used to round it off along with three other lobes.

Replaced four push rods
1 Comp Cam
16 lifters

Not nessacarily the mechanics fault, it is a crap shoot with the hydrolic lifters. They are very touchy and if not broke in correctly they will just ware out prematuraly, sometime even when done correctly they will ware. Thats why a roller cam is the only way I will go from now on. Either way, I Hope your new cam works out better.
