got my new heads

So i received my new rebuilt heads today. They sent C8OE heads. I read that they are 68 heads. They do have 289 stamped into them, so i am assuming they are still 289 heads. Are there any difference between the C6AE and the C8OE heads?

I wish i had the money for that. So i dont think im going to get close to my 300 crank hp mark now. Im probably dropping a point in compression. damn. I have half a mind to send these heads back..

Well if its any consolation which i doubt it is, you weren't going to get 300 hp with that cam any way so if it was me i would just leave the heads unless you REALLY want that compression. But hey look on the bright side, don't have to worry about pump gas anymore haha.

This cam is supposedly a good cam cause it has really fast ramp rates. It's .050 durations are alot higher then other cams of the same size. I've heard a few and they sound like beasts. I really dont want to lower my compression... that means im going to have like 8.3 compression or something like that, jeez. So even when im porting and polishing these heads im not going to tell any difference cause the lose in compression is just offsetting any power i get.

Quit farting around with those heads. Keep them original.

Yep, and what i keep reading is that most people are making good power out of that XE274 cam. I see 302 roller motors making over 300 to the wheels with other bolt ons. I think it should get close to 300 crank hp.

Oh, you can reach 300 crank HP with enough bolt ons. But, be careful to keep thinking about HP before beefing up that unibody. Sub frame connectors both front to rear and left to right in the front is a must.
