Topic: gas smell when idling

my car now gives out unburnt gas smell from the exhaust, specially when i start it. i recently changed my spark plugs. What can I do?

You need to overhaul your carb.  It's running way too rich.

Check the actual filler neck. See if the O ring is dry rotted and leaking near the gas tank. I had to replace this piece on both of my stangs. Its under $20 if you do it yourself

Is the car jetted for your altitude? If you bought it from some one who had it at a lower altitude the carb need to be rejetted. Carbs also come jetted for sea level so if you high up you'll wanta re jet it.
