Galaxy engine in 69 Fastback
« on: August 29, 2009, 07:34:01 AM »
I bought 69 Fastback with engine 390 Galaxy 65. I'm planning complete changeover. Need to know which parts shall I order - as to the Fastback or to Galaxy. Are there any differences in the size etc.? Will it fit in the car? I have really no idea, thanks for the answer.

Im pretty sure that it would fit with no problem, although i think depending on what engine was in there originally, you might need to change out some of the front end parts to hold that big block weight. Then new engine mounts of course. Also what tranny is in it, or is there one?

That was close to the year that Mustang started putting 390's, 427's, 429 etc. big blocks in them.  ('67 was the first year for the 390's.)  so yeah, you have room under that hood for it.  But like was said, you may have to beef up that front end if you had a 302 in it before.  I'm going to move this discussion to the Classic section since we are talking about a classic.
