Fan Shroud
« on: April 01, 2009, 06:46:36 PM »
My 67'  289 is running a little warm, somewhat concerning because the weather here is still fairly cool. My car has a new 2 row radiator, thermostat, cap and the water pump seems to be working fine. I was told to try a fan shroud, but want one made for my car that bolts correctly to the cowling, any idea's where to get the correct model?

Thanks

JJ

The two row is not the best, but since you already have a new one, I would go ahead and put a shroud on it.   Get a shroud and a can to catch the overflow.  It can be expensive or form the junk yard. Almost all Mustang vendors offer the shroud to buy.  I got mine from Texas Mustang.com

My mach i used to run hot until I replace the 2 row radiator with a 4 row. Now it takes it forever to warm up.

Yeah, I have a 4 row too and mine runs cool as a cucumber.  I also have the shroud and the overflow can, along with a 6 blade fan.  Ford screwed up by putting 2 row radiators and 4 blade fans on the 289 engines, so it just takes some tweaking to correct their errors.  A good flushing also helps before adding the 4 row and the shroud.
