Engine & Tranny Swap Questions...
« on: March 16, 2010, 07:36:22 PM »
I purchased a roller '65 coupe. I then purchased a 5.0L and T5 to put in it. Can i use the rear sump oil pan on the 5.0L or do I need to switch it with a front sump? Second, If i need to switch it, what do I do about the oil pick-up and dipstick location? Also what Tranny Mount should I use with the T-5? Thanks...

Welcome -
It's a front oil pickup only. Try Mustangs Plus in Stockton, CA for advice and parts. http://www.mustangsplus.com/ I also recomend a cable actuated clutch setup which they sell.

Most any Mustang parts supplier can hook you up with what you need.

If you plan on running long tube headers, you're much better off to use the factory z-bar setup.

I have tri-y long tube headers in my 65 and no problems at all with the cable actuated clutch? I think it the only way to go with the t-5 tranny it works great. Most all the mustang part houses have info and parts you need to make the updates. Installing the t-5 was one of the best thing I did to my car.  66 GTKFB  gave you a good site for info.

I agree about the cable clutch conversion.
