elderbrock carb problems...

when started can't keep it running with out keeping pressure on gas peddle...it won't idle on its own...how can i adjust the carb where it will idle on its own with out applying pressure on gas peddle...the car has sat awhile,i've sprayed carb with cleaner,gas/carb treatment and still the same...please help...thanks for any suggestions... :-?
