edelbrock carbs?
« on: April 13, 2009, 05:25:15 PM »
I'll try this again/ Anyone using an Edlebrock carb in place of a Autolite 4100. I currently have a Pony built Autolite 1.12" on top of  Weiand-Stealth manifold...The heads are 58cc chamber, 1.9" int. 1.6" ex Lunati roller rockers Forged aluminum flat-top pistons. The heads are completely matched to intake and the exhaust are factory Hi-Po cast iron with alot of die grinding work done to them to match the heads. Ignition is an eletronic Mallory w/mechanical advance. The cam is a Crane with .498" @ .050"
I'm not fully satisfied with the Autolites performance....secondaries are slow to open... I would like to try an Edelbrock with mechanical linkage to set my preferred time of opening?

I have an Ed 625 cfm carb and while I like somethings about it like the fact its extremly easy to work on and totally reliable I will be changing over to a Holley at some point probably this year. I'm told and have even experimented some that the Holley is much more of a performance peice. The Ed is a good carb though. They bought the carter AFB and thats exactly what it is. Been around forever.

The Motorcraft and the Edelbrock are the most reliable of all carburetors for our classic Mustangs.  Bar none.
