CONTROL ARM SHAFT mustang 1966
« on: April 24, 2011, 12:08:50 PM »
I have a Ford Mustang 489 of 1966 automatic.

I would like to instal in the upper arm control arm shaft, for example like this one: Raybestos PROFESSIONAL GRADE CONTROL ARM SHAFT ASSEMBLY - JCWhitney
 or
Ingalls Engineering CONTROL ARM SHAFT KIT - JCWhitney

For the model 1965/66 i find only such solution.

Which of the solution you recommend as better one? Raybestos Chassis is much cheaper than Ingalls Engineering.

I found the following option in Moog catalogue, which seems better for me:
MOOG-K8233 Front Upper Control Arm Shaft Made By MOOG
Unfortunately, it seems to be suitable only for models 1967 - 1973. Is it possible to find such solution but for model 1965 - 66?
What is your opinion about using this solution in my car?

 Best regards

I look for the option with rubber bushing for Mustang 1965-66. Does anybody now any producer of such solution?
If such option does not exist, could anybody suggest any other solution for upper control arm shaft, different from the original one, if possible with use of rubber bushing?
I would prefer not to buy parts manufactured in China; I have already bought some, which makes me cry till now :)

National Parts Depot has what you're looking for.  Their latest catalog web address is:
http://shop.autocraftinvestments.com/index.php?p=catalog&parent=1&pg=1

and the control arm shaft kits should come up with this link:

http://shop.autocraftinvestments.com/index.php?p=catalog&mode=search2&search_in=name&search_str=upper+control+arm+shaft&carline=10

[added 4/28]:  I did a little research and found that MOOG makes a kit for this application.  The MOOG part number is K8053.  You should be able to find this fairly easily using a Google search.  Prices I saw were about $50 US for each.  MOOG has an excellent reputation for quality parts.  So does TRW, who makes one of the units listed on the National Parts Depot link above.
