Compressor Spacers?
« on: September 21, 2009, 06:34:30 PM »
I have a '65 Mustang Coupe, that I just bought, it's a 289 and when I look at the compressor and the belts it looks at though the compressor itself is back a little too far, is there supposed to be spacers behind the compressor to bring it forward? I think the difference is maybe 1/4" no more.

I have searched the internet all I can to find a view of how it should be but no joy, if possible, if mine needs something then I would like to have a picture of how it should be.

I would bring it out so the belt run true. With that much offset it's not good for the belt or the shaft in your compressor.

Here is how it is supposed to line up.  I would try- to slide the compressor forward from the plate it sits on, or you have an aftermarket fan that doesn't fit.

Fan definately seems to be fine...all that is the problem is the compressor itself. I think I definately need to move it forward toward the radiator to line up the belt. Thanks Soaring, great pictures, I don't know if you could get a picture of where the compressor bolts to the motor but that could help too.

Thanks a lot.
