I recently got two old 390s and was wondering if there was any castings on the block to identify what size and year they are.

Yeah, right behind where the starter is mounted is the block casting number.  C is for the 60's, D is for the 70's etc.  So, a C68 would be for a 68 Ford engine.

so how do u find out if its a 390 or not

Since you said you had two 390's, I assumed you knew they were 390's, but just need to know the year.  There are a few things that will tell you if it is a 390 or not.
Intake manifold runners are partially covered by rocker covers.The exhaust port runners extend out from the head ending with flanges that have the top exhaust manifold bolt holes through these flanges.

5 Valve Cover Bolts.

Distributor goes through the intake manifold, the only Ford engine that has this feature...
