I have a question.  Under the dash on the driver's side near the door but still in the ceiling under the dash, I have what looks like a 5 inch to 6 inch round hole.  For the life of me I can't figure out what goes in the thing.  It has bolts which look like something was originally there but I can't find it referenced in my 1967 Mustang Shop Manual from Ford.  Any Ideas?

I just got this car maybe a week and a half ago and when I drove it home, I had a tremendous amount of air, I believe from the vents past the hood, rushing into the car from under the dash. Made for a cold 3 hour drive.

I really want to make sure this car is buttoned up against bad weather, so any help would highly be appreciated.

Oh BTW here is the car.

looks like you found a nice one there.

I have been thinking about it, could it be when the water runs down from and goes to the grates  in front of the windshield that makes the water run off and down the fender, it could be a water outlet. do you understand what im saying?lol. it could be missing it that .
does the floor boards get wet when you wash it?. I know the early mustangs 64 thru 68 have a poor design and cause major rust in the dash and florrs cause the water does not run off like it should.

If you could send a pic of the hole it might help.  Im thinking of the wire hole for the door speaker and door lights but then I dont know alot about the 67s im a 69 and 70 guy.  Does your kick plate have the vent and if it does is the door that closes the vent missing?

Send up a photo of the hole and maybe we can help from there.

That big hole is where your vent is.  Look at these pics of mine, and if your's doesn't look like mine, then someone has taken your vent out.  For the time being, get a cowl cover to keep the cold air from entering.  Then get with a mustang supply place like NPD (National Parts Depoit) to see if you can order another vent.  The first pic is of the vent, and the second is the knob you pull to open and close the vent.
