Topic: 73 Mach 1 vinyl top

I was wondering if anyone knew how many Mach 1's were made with a vinyl top,I was decoding my tags on mine and found out it originally came with vinyl.really debating if i should put it back or not.

I wouldn't.  The vinly tends to trap moisture underneath it and causing roof rust.  You may already have rust under there, and if so, it has to come off.

Yea the previous owner pulled it and painted over the top,car does need to be repainted,I dont really like vinyl tops.I have only seen a couple pics of Mach's with vinyl did not like the look to much,But on the other hand it would bring some attention at car shows.

Missed crusin the coast in Miss. this year but went to a couple locals and had quite a few people look at her,but she isnt really show quality yet and she might not make the grade on what some consider show quality. I really want it to be a nice daily driver, with a little muscle when i need it.Been researching it ti find the options it came with and will get as close to it as i can with a little luck. but i just bought it about 6 months ago,so i have a ways to go

My Dad had a 69 Galaxy XLT when I was a kid. Maroon with a black top. Good looking combination that I would take on a car. Dont know about a Mach I the way the roofs are on the 71-73 or any mustang fastback really I dont think lends themself well to vinyl. I think coupes look better with them Soarings right about the rust to.

yea the top does have some rust issue's not major but will soon have it fixed.and around the windshield. working on getting all parts and fix it one weekend
